Managing the UGC Inbox
So, you have set up your Gallery.
….and you’ve added a UGC form to the gallery (or somewhere on your site) for people to submit media to you.
You ready to begin accepting media from your audience!
How Your Audience Submits Media Through Your Website (UGC Form)
As you learned in Setting up a Gallery for UGC, your audience submits media to your website via the UGC Form. Here’s how your website visitors use that form:
First they fill out their name, email and any comments they have on the image(s) they are submitting to you.
If you have enabled multiple galleries, your visitors can choose which gallery to submit their images to (it will default to the galleryid you entered in the shortcode or the gallery the form is attached to). Note: When the images reach the UGC Inbox, you can still change what gallery the images go to before they are published.
Then they browse and upload their images. In the case of images, your visitors can upload multiple images in a submission. In the case of this tutorial, we are just uploading one image.
After uploading the image(s) they can give the images a name and a caption. Clicking the Upload Images button will send them off to the UGC Inbox for you to moderate!
The UGC Inbox
The UGC Inbox has one simple use. To approve and publish media that your website visitors submit via the UGC Form. It is very easy to use.
Here’s what it looks like with the image we submitted above.
The UGC Inbox lists all of the submissions you receive. You’ll be able to tell which submissions you already approved, because they show up with a green background. Media you have not approved yet shows up with a red background.
You can also easily filter what you see in the Inbox by a variety of parameters.
You can view just media that has not been verified yet, or items that have been verified…or both! (by default you’ll only see items that have not been verified yet)
You can also filter the content by the date it was submitted.
Moderating Media Submitted to the UGC Inbox
Each piece of content that is submitted by your website visitors is moderated the same way. You can preview the content, change its destination gallery, edit its name and caption and finally approve it to be published.
First off, you can see how many images were included in a submission right below a thumbnail of the submission.
Clicking the thumbnail will bring up a full-size preview of the submission. If there are multiple images in the submission, you can arrow through them in the modal window.
By default, the image gallery the user had selected in the UGC Form will be where the image(s) is published to, however, you can change that by using the Content Name dropdown.
You can also view the email address, comments and date / time the user entered with their submission.
You can also edit the image’s name and caption (or remove individual images from a multi-image submission) by clicking the Edit button.
This will bring up a modal window with the name and caption as editable fields.
Approving or Removing a Submission
Once you approve a submission, you can go filter the inbox by Verified submissions and go directly to the gallery you published it to by clicking the gallery name.
Here you can see our image was automatically added to the Gallery we selected.
…and when we click on the image, we see the name and caption the user submitted.
