Typically, you’ll only need to visit the Video Settings page once (or potentially not at all if the OneCMS Team has already set it up for you). Nevertheless, completing this page before you start publishing videos on your website is crucial.
To reach the Video Settings screen, go to Video > Settings
Within this section, you’ll find various modules that govern different aspects of Video settings. Let’s explore each of them in detail.
Maximum Video Playback Resolution
In this section, you specify the video resolution for playback. The default setting is 406p, providing a well-balanced compromise between video quality and bandwidth consumption.
It’s important to keep in mind that opting for higher quality resolutions will increase video file sizes, leading to greater bandwidth usage.
The Pre-Roll Type setting determines whether you’ll use the integrated OneCMS Video Pre-Roll system or an external Google Ad Manager (VAST) trafficking system to serve your pre-roll advertisements. Please note that both cannot be used simultaneously.
If you opt for Ad Manager (VAST) Pre-Rolls, an additional field will become available on your Players, enabling you to insert an Ad Tag URL, which allows you to target your pre-rolls by player location.
Before you commence publishing videos, every website must have a Default Player configured.
To set a player as the default, you’ll first need to create at least one player in advance (you can do this in the Players section). When you insert videos into your content or add video widgets across your website without specifying a particular player, the system will automatically use the default player you set here.
Pre-roll Skip Time
The Pre-Roll skip time indicates the duration a website visitor must watch the pre-roll before they are allowed to “skip” directly to the video episode.
By default, this is set to 5 seconds, but you have the flexibility to adjust it to any numeric value of your choice.
- Setting it to 0 ensures that the skip button is always displayed.
- Removing all values will result in the skip button never appearing, and the entire pre-roll advertisement will play before proceeding to the video episode.
Share Video Shortcode
Enabling this setting grants permission to other One CMS websites that you share content with to embed the video within the shared content.
Without this setting enabled, videos shared within a post on other sites will not render on the receiving website. Please note that the receiving website must also have OneCMS Video enabled for video sharing to function correctly.
Feeds and ROKU Options
At the bottom of the page are various MRSS feeds you can use to syndicate the videos into other system or apps.
If you are using the premade Roku Apps (supplied by Roku, not OneCMS TV Apps) you can also choose a default Genre.
